Is MakerStack free to use? ↓
Yes — MakerStack is free to use. However, it is currently in invite-only early access.
To get started, join the waitlist. Once your application is approved you’ll receive an email with a link to sign in at app.makerstack.space.
How do I get access to MakerStack? ↓
MakerStack is currently in invite-only early access.
To request access:
- Go to makerstack.space/waitlist
- Enter your email address and submit the form
- Click the verification link in the email we send you
- Wait for your application to be reviewed — you’ll receive an email when you’re approved
If you’ve already been approved, sign in at app.makerstack.space.
What units does MakerStack use for filament weight? ↓
MakerStack uses grams (g) for individual spool and consumption measurements, and kilograms (kg) for product-level bulk specifications. There is no unit toggle — g/kg is the fixed standard throughout the app.
How do I sign in? ↓
MakerStack is currently invite-only, so you can only sign in after your waitlist request or direct invite has been approved.
Once you have access, sign in at app.makerstack.space using:
- OAuth — sign in with your GitHub, Google, or Microsoft account in one click
- Email & password — create an account with your email address and a password
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is supported and recommended. You can set up a TOTP authenticator app (such as Authy or 1Password) or use email-based MFA for an extra layer of security.
What is a workspace? ↓
A workspace is a private container for all your filament data — spools, projects, locations, and devices. When you sign in for the first time, a workspace is created automatically.
You can invite other people to your workspace using a shareable invite link, making it easy to collaborate on a shared print farm or maker space. You can also create multiple workspaces if you need to keep projects or collections separate.
How does barcode scanning work? ↓
Open the Scan screen in the app and point your camera at the barcode on a filament spool or product box. MakerStack will search the community catalogue for a matching product and let you add it to your inventory in seconds.
Supported barcode formats include EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, QR Code, and Data Matrix.
If the barcode isn’t in the catalogue yet, you’ll be prompted to create a new product entry — which then becomes available to the whole community.
What are projects and print runs? ↓
Projects let you organise your prints into named builds. Each project can have:
- Filament requirements — specify which materials and colours you need, and how much
- Print runs — a batch of prints within a project, with spools assigned to each requirement
- Attachments — files, links, and notes related to the build
- Categories and tags — for keeping your project list organised
Print runs track the actual filament consumed. You assign spools to requirements, log the grams used, and MakerStack deducts them from your spool inventory automatically.
You can also generate a read-only share link for any project, letting collaborators or customers view the project details without needing a MakerStack account.
Can I track my 3D printers? ↓
Yes. The Devices section lets you register your 3D printers and track which filament spool is currently loaded on each one. You can load and unload spools directly from the device view, so you always know what’s on which machine at a glance.
