Your Spools

A spool is your physical reel of filament. MakerStack tracks its remaining weight so you always know what you have left.

  1. Go to My SpoolsAdd spool
  2. Choose a product (or create a new one — see Filament Products)
  3. Enter the starting weight in grams (it’s usually printed on the box)
  4. Optionally set the current weight if the spool is already partly used
  5. Assign a location to record where it lives
  6. Click Save

Got a fresh order arrive? Add multiple spools of the same product in one go:

  1. Open Add spool and enable Bulk add
  2. Choose the product and set the quantity
  3. Each spool is created with the full starting weight from the product spec

Each spool shows:

  • Product name & variant — brand, material, colour, diameter
  • Remaining weight — updated every time you log usage
  • Location — where it’s stored
  • Usage history — a log of every consumption entry with timestamps and optional print name

Log filament consumption directly on a spool:

  1. Open the spool (tap its card or name)
  2. Click Log usage
  3. Enter grams used — quick-pick presets: 10 g, 25 g, 50 g, 100 g, 250 g
  4. Add an optional print name for reference
  5. Click Log

Open the spool detail view and click Edit to change:

  • The linked product or variant
  • Starting weight (e.g. if you weighed the spool yourself)
  • Current weight (manual correction)
  • Location

Open the spool, click More actionsDelete. This removes the spool and its usage history permanently.

On the My Spools page, filter by:

  • Material type (PLA, PETG, ABS, …)
  • Colour
  • Location
  • Low stock only

Sort by name, remaining weight, or recently updated.

All weights are in grams (g). Spool specs on product pages show the full spool weight in kg. Conversion: 1 kg = 1000 g.
