Locations
Locations let you record where each spool lives in your workspace. MakerStack supports unlimited nesting so you can model any storage setup accurately.
Example hierarchy

Section titled “Creating a location”- Go to Locations → Add location
- Enter a name (e.g. “Dry Box 1”)
- Optionally pick a parent location to nest it (e.g. parent = “Workshop”)
- Click Save
Moving a location
Section titled “Moving a location”Edit the location and change its parent. All child locations and assigned spools move with it automatically.
Assigning a spool to a location
Section titled “Assigning a spool to a location”When adding or editing a spool, pick a location from the dropdown. The full path (e.g. Workshop → Dry Box 1 → Slot A) is shown in the spool details.
Deleting a location
Section titled “Deleting a location”- Open Locations → click the location
- Click Delete
- Confirm the action
- Use dry box slots as leaf locations so you can track exactly which spool is loaded
- Keep top-level locations as rooms or areas (“Workshop”, “Bedroom”, “Car boot”)
- Use short names for deep hierarchies — they’re shown in full on spool cards
